This edition includes an index for the narrative pages (which are numbered) and improved line spacing and layout for handwriting.
The lead section is for recording vessel information and other permanent details. Included are: safety equipment, compass deviations, machinery maintenance, radio transactions, GPS waypoints, digital photographs and digital charts as well as a guest register.
The daily pages provide two pages to a day; the left page is divided into the classic panels for periodic records of weather, mechanical checks, navigation, etc. The right hand page is given over entirely to free narrative, with a daily summary of times and distances at the bottom.
