Black Chain (Mooring Chain)

Black chain is not galvanised and is simply used for that underwater use on moorings. It is a longer link than used on anchor winches. Because of its continual immersion galvanised chain would not last longer.  Also, black chain is generally 45% stronger than short link galvanised. For example 13mm galvanised short link chain is approximately kN80 (K-newton)  80,  while black chain is kN80 (K-newton) 122.6  .
